BELFAST CITY & TITANIC MUSEUM DAY TOUR

DEPARTURE TIME: 8:00AM (Arrive 10 minutes before)
DEPARTURE LOCATION: Molly Malone Statue on Suffolk Street - MAP HERE

HIGHLIGHTS:
This price includes a guided tour of Belfast City * The Belfast Peace Wall (one of Ireland's 7 Wonders) * the Republican Museum (closed Sunday and Monday) * HMS Caroline * Titanic Museum

8:00am : Depart Dublin

We will meet at the Molly Malone statue (on Suffolk Street). Your guide will introduce himself and give a breakdown of the day's events. We will drive north out of Dublin with your guide giving you information along the way. You'll get a short breakdown of the history of Northern Ireland (you'll get a much more detailed account in Belfast).

10:30am : Peace Wall & Titanic Quarter

We arrive in Belfast City! We start our tour with a drive around West Belfast, which is comprised of 'Loyalists' (allegiance to the Queen) on one side and 'Republicans' (those who want a united Ireland) on the other. Your guide will show you the dividing wall called 'The Peace Wall' - a wall forcing peace by separation. We will endeavor to explain how the troubles began and how things are today. The wall murals tell stories of both unionists and republicans. We are the only company to take in the Republican Museum (closed Sunday and Monday), which has a large amount of prison artefacts and prisoner handicraft as well as a research library and audio visual exhibitions. This is a unique place, so make the most of it!

Next, we travel to East Belfast to visit the Harland and Wolff shipyard, one of the biggest in the U.K. in its time. Many ships were launched from this yard, most famously the Titanic. You might have heard of it!

12:00pm : Free Time Belfast

Take some time for yourself to explore the city and grab a bite to eat. Below are some suggestions on what to see:

  • The Crown Liquor Saloon is charming. Its wooden partitions and ornate Victorian exterior belong to an old world.
  • If culture is for you, the Grand Opera house and St. Anne's cathedral (also known as Belfast Cathedral) are worth a visit, check out its magnificent organ, the biggest in Northern Ireland, and find out about the 'black santa.'
  • Belfast has its own leaning tower! The Albert Memorial Clock.
  • For the history buff, the Linen Hall Library is worth a visit. This is the oldest library in Belfast. It has the definitive collection archiving the troubles with over 250,000 items in the political section.
  • Donegal Square and City Hall is the landmark site in the centre of Belfast. This impressive building is the heart of the city and was where president Clinton addressed the citizens of Northern Ireland in 1995.

2:00pm : HMS Caroline

After lunch, your guide will take you to the HMS Caroline.  This is a real life combat ship that served in both WW1 and WW2. She was the last survivor of the Battle of Jutland still afloat.

3:15pm : Titanic Experience

You will get to see the highlight of the tour, the Titanic Experience Tour.  Here you will learn all about Titanic’s tragic maiden voyage across the atlantic.

7:15pm : Return To Dublin

We will arrive back in Dublin. Sit back and relax, chat about the day and listen to some traditional Irish music along the way.
